SAHF member Community Housing Partners (CHP) is a nonprofit affordable housing provider, owning and operating nearly 6,000 units across multiple states. CHP integrates resident services and property management to prioritize housing stability with a recognition that property and resident sustainability are linked. This case study examines CHP’s long-standing commitment to housing stability and staffing model adjustments that were accelerated by the COVID pandemic.
Strong executive support and leadership of organizational goals is critical to achieve housing stability. As the larger organization undertook changes to integrate and centralize functions, Resident Services led its own evolution, setting up three teams to address specific challenges: Senior Services, Community Programs and Housing Stability. The Housing Stability Team (HST) was a direct offshoot of CHP’s focus on financial capabilities (FINCAP), recognizing that stability is closely linked with financial capabilities. Staff from FINCAP came to lead the HST.
This case study dives deeper into the actions of CHP’s Housing Stability Team and broader support for resident stability across the organization.
