Residents are experts in the experience of living in their homes and communities and they can be partners in meeting carbon, energy, and water reduction commitments. Through all areas of our work, we strive to empower, engage and center residents in environmental sustainability efforts. Resident engagement strengthens the sense of community at our properties and supports residents in building life-long skills to understand and manage utility costs.
Quality-of-life benefits of sustainability measures extend well beyond cost savings or lower environmental impacts and hearing it through a resident’s own words helps SAHF and the affordable housing industry better understand the impacts of environmental sustainability efforts for the communities we serve.
