Our Nation’s infrastructure is more than just roads and bridges, it is also the networks and systems that deliver energy and water to homes and businesses across the country. These networks are aging and burdened by modern demands. The right investments in our energy and water infrastructure and in retrofitting buildings themselves can drive down costs and create jobs while producing a healthier living environment.

In February 2016, SAHF and its members sent a letter to Chairman Jeb Hensarling and Ranking Member Maxine Waters of the House Financial Services Committee regarding the Housing Opportunities Through Modernization Act (H.R. 3700, also known as HOTMA).
SAHF joins with LeadingAge to urge legislators considering tax reform to protect and enhance the Low Income Housing Tax Credit, which is a proven and effective tool to promote the construction and rehabilitation of high-quality housing for low-income households.
SAHF and LeadingAge call for the extension of the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program to the Section 202 PRAC portfolio of affordable properties for seniors. This would allow owners of PRAC properties to use the features of RAD to attract private capital to these HUD-assisted properties and make capital improvements to serve low-income seniors for another 20 years.
