January 7, 2019- Implementing energy efficiency across a large portfolio of properties is challenging, but the right set of partners can make it happen!  To upgrade 5,700 units at 85 properties in its California portfolio, Mercy Housing is leveraging some of the nation’s best efficiency programs with an innovative financing solution offered by Affordable Community Energy (ACE).  The ACE model allowed Mercy Housing to overcome common financing barriers faced by affordable housing. With Reinvestment Fund as ACE’s lender and Bright Power as the master contractor, Mercy Housing achieved over 22% energy savings at the first set of properties retrofitted. The deep energy retrofits created not only utility bill savings but also capital improvements that provide healthier, more comfortable homes for Mercy Housing’s low-income residents.
